Om sai ram

Why this? why that?

the dictionary of my mind is one of its kind

with words so many

and meanings even more

I am jumbled with questions,

and answers to find

If the light is a light

That makes a place bright

Then why do we measure

‘As light as a feather??’

With a name, just one  Oh! Why the tough fare?

For poor Dear Light has two meanings to share!!

Why this? I wonder,

 why that? Oh, bother!!

There are  two heads to cover

 for one hat in grammar

a crow caw caws

on the bark of a tree

But my Bruno's bark is

Indeed scary

Bark can be scary

A bark can grow

Our modest dog and crow

I Will also never know!!

With a name, just one. Why the tough fare?

Oh!!poor Mr. Bark has two meanings to share!!

Why this? I wonder,

 why that? Oh, bother!!

There are  two heads to cover

 for one hat, in grammar

A date on the calendar, a date for us to eat

It ‘s our right to take a right turn

 following signals on a street

Rose is my favourite flower,

He quickly rose from his seat

A role with an ‘e’

A roll with double ‘ll’

Though Sounds the same

Differs in meaning, unlike to spell

I read the poem, in past

in the future, I will read

How amused I am with the confusion

Of these English letters, indeed.

Homonyms, homophones, and homographs

One fine day, I learnt in my class

All the words are created with so much thought

Not accidental, a mistake, it is not

The witty English language

With all its pronunciations

will only get enriched with passing generations.
